The Credit Card Strategy That Unlocked Our Tropical Escape
The secret to landing five nights for free started with the Chase Marriott Bonvoy card, featuring five Free Night Awards & two $50 airline credits. We did have to meet a minimum spending goal of $3K within the first three months.
After we meet the $3K, we received award night certificates for a hotel stay up to 50,000 points per night. This was a huge win because you can book a number of hotels for 50K points! There is a $95 annual fee and often resort or other fees. Keep a little extra room in your budget for those details.

Become a Master of the Marriott Certificate System
Here's how to plan like a pro. Marriott uses flexible pricing, which means the "cost" in points changes depending on the busyness of the hotel. Good news, if a hotel you love is up to 65K, Marriott actually allows you to "top off" your award by adding up to 15,000 of your existing points. This small trick opens the door to even more luxury properties.
👉 To check award nights, you will need to go to each hotel site and check for award availability. This example is from the amazing El Mangroove hotel.
Flexibility with your travel dates is key to ensure your certificates go as far as possible. Just because one date's points are too high, checking the following week might reveal a much better deal!
