My first trip to Costa Rica started as a 50th birthday bucket-list adventure or a “one and done”. Or so we thought. Turns out, Costa Rica had other plans. We loved it so much that just two months later, we were back for round two.
Between the jungle, the beaches, and the monkeys acting like they owned the place (they do), we were hooked. We explored misty cloud forests, hiked at night, swam in warm Pacific waters, followed howler monkeys through the trees, and learned that “just one more beach” is never actually just one more beach.
We stayed in Airbnbs and in awesome, and not so awesome, hotels by the water, with appreciation for the different rhythms each offered. Some days were full of adventure and animals; others were about slowing down, eating great food, and doing absolutely nothing… very intentionally.
This blog shares highlights from both trips – what we loved, what surprised us, and what we’d absolutely do (or not do) again. Five Toed Adventures is my travel guide inspired by everything that makes Costa Rica unforgettable: its two- and three-toed sloths, diverse landscapes, warm people, and sunsets you never quite get over. It’s proof that sometimes the best trips are the ones you never meant to repeat… until you do.
Learn the way of the five toed sloth and stay a while!
Pura vida.
